3.6 Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008
In line with the ongoing commitment of PCBS to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, PCBS conducted the
following activities during 2012:
1. Held a training course on the internal audit of the quality management system for 17 PCBS staff and
awarded trainees a certificate from LRQA World.
2. Received two external surveillance visits from a qualified company that concluded that PCBS is committed
to ISO 9001:2008 standards and that there were no cases of non-conformity during this external audit.
3. Submission of a paper on PCBS experience in the establishment and application of a quality management
system to a conference in Greece on the quality of European statistics.
4. Implementation of a review by management of the quality management system.
5. Implementation of 80 internal audit tasks covering all the components of the system.
6. Implementation of all requests for improvements in operations or correction and amendment to system
documentation.
7. Responding to all remedial and developmental observations that emerged during the internal audit of the system.
3.7 National Strategy for Official Statistics
In 2012, PCBS implemented the following activities as part of its commitment to the implementation of the
National Strategy for Official Statistics for 2009-2013:
1. Adoption of the proposals to develop and strengthen statistical knowledge in Palestinian society during
2012-2014, in addition to the formation of a joint working group of PCBS and the Ministry of Education
