The final report covered the results of the review in relation to all of the fundamental principles of official
statistics and in accordance to European standards, the role played by PCBS as a national statistical institution,
good practices applied by PCBS and strengths in these areas. The final report concluded that PCBS is on the
right track and suggested a wide range of proposals for further development. These proposals require concerted
efforts of cooperation and partnership to be developed within the framework of the national statistical system.
This final report has been published on the PCBS website.
3.2 Launch of New PCBS Web Page
The PCBS web page was completely updated in 2012. The first phase of launching the web page with its new
interface was completed on 11/08/2012. By the end of December 2012, PCBS will have completed the second
and final phase. The new site focuses on adding features to meet the needs of users, including:
1. Establishment of a database of publications and facilitating access by users. One of the most important
features is an advanced search in the contents of publications, the classification of publications by year, date of
release, number of printed materials, plus classification by name of printed materials by year and month. The
addition of other files, such as MS Word and Excel for each printed material, make access easier for the user.
2. Establishment of a database of press releases with new features to facilitate searching within them.
3. Inclusion of the statistical calendar with a special link after the issue of the press release or printed material.
This is in addition to an icon reading “To be released this month” on the interface of the home web page
as part of a dynamic beginning of each month as reflected in this calendar.
4. Addition of a special search engine (Google) that enables users to search in PDF files and to search for
any electronic content within the page.
5. Ordering of statistics by subject or alphabetically.
6. Addition of a database that provides a brief overview of each locality.
7. Giving the web page a new perspective by adopting and applying data visualization technology.
