The Establishments Census is a significant statistical
obligation to be conducted by PCBS in accordance
with the General Statistics Law No. 4 of 2000. This
is the fifth economic establishments census to be
implemented by PCBS, the first census taking place in
1994, the second in 1997 within the first population,
housing and establishments census, the third in 2004
and the fourth in 2007 within the second population,
housing and establishments census.
Objectives of the Census
The Establishments Census aims to count all
operating economic establishments in Palestine in
2012 to prepare an updated general framework of
existing and new economic establishments.
The census provides accurate and comprehensive
new data on economic establishments and identifies
various characteristics in terms of their operational
and functional status, organizational economic
structure, the year of establishment, registration
with the official authorities, licensing, national tax
number, legal status and ownership, accounting
records, number of employees by sex, the value
of capital, the distribution of establishments by
region, governorate or locality and the growth rate
in numbers of various economic activities.
