Part of the seminar on the TA mission on quality assessment of agricultural
census data
6.3 Completion of the Agricultural Census 2010
To complete the dissemination and analysis phase of data of the Agricultural
Census of 2010 in 2012, 18 detailed reports by governorate were released
of which 16 reports were at governorate level, in addition to reports on the
West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
In order to formulate recommendations that will contribute to the
development of the agricultural sector and agricultural statistics, PCBS, in
collaboration with researchers and specialists in agriculture and economics,
prepared five analytical studies of data from the Agriculture Census of 2010.
These studies covered the general characteristics of agricultural holdings and
agricultural holders in Palestiian territory, the fragmentation of holdings
in Palestinian agriculture and the impact on production and productivity,
how the characteristics of agricultural holders affect the use of modern
technology in Palestinian agriculture, the status of livestock in Palestine and
an evaluation of plant and animal production in the Palestinian territory.
PCBS provides these reports and studies to policy-makers and decision-
makers, scholars and those interested in the agricultural sector.
PCBS held 4 workshops in each of the northern, central and southernWest
Bank regions and in the Gaza Strip on the reality of agricultural sector
in addition to two workshops on the use of the agricultural census data
targeting lecturers and students of faculties of agriculture in Hebron and
An-Najjah Universities to clarify the implementation methodology of the
Agricultural Census and the major data results published. An opportunity
to use raw data from the Agriculture Census is provided through PUFs.
In 2012, PCBS received a TA mission to assess the project stages of the
Agricultural Census. The final evaluation of the mission was very positive.
