Chapter Seven: PCBS Guidelines - 2013
The PCBS work plan for 2013 is based on strengthening institutional work nationally and abroad and enhancing
the development of the national statistical system through capacity building. The other main task is to respond
to the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Official Statistics 2009-2013 (NSSD)
and provide the required data for the National Development Plan 2011-2013:
1. Support and consolidate the national statistical system:
•
Preparing NSSD for 2014-2018.
2. Dissemination and increased use of statistical figures:
•
Maintain the development of tools and techniques to enhance overall quality management and establish
a reliable system that ensures continuous improvement in the quality of PCBS outputs.
•
Diversify data dissemination methods and facilitate access to data by users through promoting use
in various fields, including further development of the presentation of official statistics via metadata.
•
Develop mechanisms to promote statistical data for various social strata.
3. Development of central and administrative records:
•
Continue to develop and update existing administrative records and the construction of new records
in collaboration with relevant institutions and ministries in order to increase reliance on data of
administrative records.
•
Continue to strengthen capacity building of national institutions in updating and developing
administrative and central records for statistical purposes.
4. Development of statistical sectors:
•
Continued use and development of new technologies in data collection.
•
Provide a comprehensive database of economic establishments based on the Establishments Census of
2012.
5. Development of national, regional and international relations:
•
Play an active role in national, Arab, regional and international forums related to statistical work.
•
Maintain and improve users producers dialogue.
6. Technical and administrative development:
•
Ongoing promotion of capacity building at functional and administrative levels and for professional staff.
•
Maintain the best possible work environment and meet the requirements of all staff regardless of rank.
