This Annual Report of 2012
comprises eight chapters and
reviews PCBS achievements
at various levels. The first
chapter covers the major event
of 2012: the full membership
and participation of Palestine
in the Special Data Dissemination Standards (SDDS) of the IMF.
A big celebration was held to mark this significant step.
The second chapter describes the Establishments Census conducted
by PCBS during 2012, the fifth such census implemented by PCBS
since its establishment. Chapter three covers the most important
achievements of PCBS in terms of development and institutional
building, in particular a peer review mission on the application of
fundamental principles of official statistics as declared by the United
Nations. In addition, a new web page was launched and there were
also achievements related to data quality, the National Strategy for
Official Statistics and a statistical monitoring system.
Networking, capacity building and strengthening the national
statistical system are reviewed in Chapter four, which describes
training courses in the national statistical system, the signing of
agreements and memorandums of understanding, a program of
users producers dialogue, relationships with the media and public
services, plus assistance from technical assistance missions to develop
and strengthen capacities in a variety of fields.
The fifth chapter addresses social activities organized by PCBS during
2012, including a tennis table tournament in the name of the late
Khairuddin Abdul Rahman, the creation of a PCBS football team
and participation in several football championships.
Chapter six reviews the statistical work carried out during 2012 based
on the statistical calendar and field surveys that were conducted.
Output includes the Agricultural Census of 2010, implementing
the Disability Census in the Gaza Strip, the drafting of poverty
maps, training activities and in-service skill upgrading for PCBS
staff, workshops and seminars, in addition to PCBS interaction with
Arab, regional and international bodies.
Chapter seven addresses PCBS plans for 2013 and finally, Chapter
eight documents in photographs some of the events and activities
carried out during the year.
