Sufian Abu Harb

Mr. Sufian Abu Harb is the President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (Acting) since January 2026. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Mr. Abu Harb has held pivotal leadership roles in shaping Palestine’s statistical system. From 2015, serving as Chief of the Services Sector – covering ICT, Data Collection, Administration, and Finance driving innovation, operational excellence, and modernization across the institution. Earlier serving as head of the Information and Computer Systems at PCBS from 2006-2014.

His extensive expertise also includes serving as Head of the Computer and Information Systems (ICT) Unit at the Prime Minister’s Office (2023–2024), an ICT expert for UNRWA’s Headquarters in Amman, Jordan (2003–2004), leading the Data Dissemination and Statistical Central Registers departments in addition to various initiatives including the National Supervisory Committee on the Data Science Initiative.

Extensive experience in the management of large-scale statistical operations, Mr. Abu Harb has overseen multiple Population Censuses (1997, 2007, 2017) and Agricultural Censuses (2010, 2021). Beyond national projects, he has provided international consultancy in official statistics, specializing in strategic management, data communication, dissemination, and digital transformation.

Mr. Abu Harb holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Birzeit University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from York University-Canada, combining strategic leadership with technical insight to advance the Palestinian statistical system to global standards.
