Decrease in the consumer price index in Palestine during June 2026

The overall Consumer Price Index CPI for Palestine during June 2026 recorded a decrease by 1.60% compared with May 2026 (by 1.87% in Gaza Strip, by 1.60% in the West Bank**, and by 0.53% in Jerusalem J1*). 

The changes in Palestinian CPI during June 2026 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during June 2026 decreased by 40.04% compared with June 2025 (62.77% in Gaza Strip, While, the index increased by 2.31% in Jerusalem J1*, and by 1.31% in the West Bank**).

Sharp Increase in the Consumer Price Index in the West Bank During the First Half of 2026, Offset by a Sharp Decline in Gaza Strip

The Consumer Price Index in the West Bank increased significantly by 2.08% during the first half of 2026 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. The index also increased by 2.95% in Jerusalem J1* over the same period. In contrast, the index recorded a sharp decline of 41.66% in Gaza Strip during the first half of 2026. This decline came after prices had reached unprecedented levels during two years of the aggression. As a result, the overall Consumer Price Index for Palestine decreased by 20.91%.
