Governance
•
19.7%
of public officials in the West Bank were exposed to or witnessnessed an act
of corruption during the previous three years up to March-April, 2010.
•
13.0%
of individuals (18 years and over) in the Palestinian Territory were exposed
to or witnessed an act of corruption during the previous three years up to February-
March, 2010.
•
76.6%
of individuals (18 years and over) in the Palestinian Territory had difficulties
in reporting corruption during the previous three years up to February-March, 2010.

Security and Justice
•
Criminal offenses reported:
There were 16,402 criminal offenses reported in 2009
in the West Bank, representing 7.40 criminal offenses per 1000 population.
•
The criminal offenses reported in West Bank governorates in 2009 comprised assault
(38.2%),
theft (18.4%), battery (20.9%), fraud (6.1%), and the remainder were
kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, threats, drugs and murder, etc. The number of
criminal offenses in the West Bank in 2009 (16,402) had risen compared with 2005
(13,705).
•
Juvenile offenders:
There were 336 juvenile offenders admitted to reform
institutions in the West Bank in 2009. The criminal offenses committed by these
juveniles were burglary, theft, 137 m, 115 cases of assault and 18 offenses against
morality.
•
Road traffic accidents
:
There were 5,408 road traffic accidents in the West Bank
in 2010, including 3,566 accidents causing injuries and 1,842 accidents with
material losses only. There were 7,052 injuries caused by road accidents as follows:
5,962
minor injuries, 807 moderately injured, 151 seriously injured and 132
fatalities.

Labor and Wages
•
In 2010, the labour force participation rate in the Palestinian Territory was 41.1%:
66.8%
for males and 14.7% for females.
•
In 2010, the unemployment rate was 23.7% in the Palestinian Territory: 23.1% for
males and 26.8% for females.
•
Most workers (67.6%) in the Palestinian Territory in 2010 were waged employees;
95.1%
of workers in Israel and Israeli settlements are waged employees.
