In its endeavor to provide the basic statistical data on the Palestinian economy, the PCBS has conducted the SIXTEENTH round of the Finance and Insurance survey for 2010 , as the reference year. The PCBS also carries out a series of annual economic surveys including transport, storage and communication, industry, services, internal trade, and construction- contractors surveys
Abstract
This report comprises the survey data for 2010, presented in tables. Enterprises engaged in financial intermediary activities (Palestinian Monetary Authority, banks, Palestine Exchange, stock market brokers, and insurance companies) were fully covered by this survey.

The results of the economic surveys conducted in various fields constitute the foundations for the compilation of Palestinian National Accounts. It is hoped that they will also meet the various needs and expectations of users in both private and public sectors.
The questionnaire included these variables:
1. The persons engaged in enterprise and compensation of these employees.
2. Value of output from main activity and secondary activity.
3. Value of financial investment.
4. Production inputs of goods and services.
5. Payments and transfers.
6. Taxes on production.
7. Assets and net additions on those assets and depreciation for 2008

Sampling

Sampling Procedure
The number of enterprises in the Finance and Insurance Survey for the base year 2010 (Sampling frame -2010) was (48) enterprises, which form the whole frame distributed in all of the West bank and Gaza Strip governorates depending on the Population, Housing and Establishment Census 2007.

Sample design: The survey covered all enterprises engaged in the targeted economic activities without sampling techniques.

The sampling weight of the enterprise is the mathematical turned of the possibility selection of that enterprise. It is necessary to use weights in the estimation of the
survey society because of the differentiation in the possibility of enterprises' selection from another one so The weights were adjusted to compensate for non-responded

Preparation stage:
This includes developing the questionnaire, manual, dummy tables, work plan, time-table, editing and coding rules.
implementation stage:

Fieldwork operations:
Due to the fact that the survey frame is small no recruitment and training for field workers was made excluding one fieldworker for Gaza Strip, but for the West Bank the technical staff had conducted the survey.

Office operations:
After the fieldwork operations, the collected questionnaires sent to the officers to be audit and coded.

Questionnaires

Questionnaires
There are three forms that were used in the Financial and Insurance Survey 2010, the first one is related to banking sector, the second is related to insurance corporation and the third is related to stock market. The questionnaire used for this survey has much in common with other questionnaires in the economic survey series. The design of the questionnaire takes into account major economic variables pertaining to the examined phenomenon and meets the needs of the Palestinian National Accounts and Balance of Payments:
1. Number of employees in a company and their compensations.
2. The output of the main and second activities.
3. Value of financial investments
4. Goods production inputs.
5. Various payments and transfers.
6. Indirect taxes.
7. Enterprises assets and net of additionals to this assets in addition to depreciation during the year 2010..

Data Processing

Data Editing
For insuring quality and consistency of data, a set of measures were taken into account to ensure accuracy through:
· Preparing data entry program before data collection to ensure readiness of the program for data entry.
· A set of validation rules were applied on the program for checking consistency of data.
· Efficiency of the program was checked through pre-testing by entering few questionnaires, including incorrect information, to verify the readiness of the data entry programs.
· Qualified data entry operators were selected and trained for on the capturing of the survey's questionnaires.
· Weekly or biweekly data files were received by project management for checking accuracy and consistency. Feedback and notes about the consistency of the data were regularly provided for data entry management to verify the data.
