Press Release on Hotel Activities Survey in the West Bank during

 the First Quarter 2015

 

About 100 Thousand Guests Spent 292 Thousand Nights

 

During the first quarter 2015, 99,689 guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank: 35% were from European Union countries and 10% were Palestinians.

 

The number of hotel guests was 33% lower than in the first quarter of 2014 and 35% lower than in previous quarter.

 

During the first quarter 2015, the number of guest nights in the West Bank hotels reached 291,917 : of which 40% were from European Union countries, 12% were Palestinians, and 11% were from the United States and Canada.

During the first quarter 2015, there were 3,075 hotel workers: (2,359 males and 716 females).

 

Hotel Room Occupancy

The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 20% in the first quarter 2015.

Room occupancy during the first quarter 2015 was 14% lower than first quarter of 2014 and 19% lower than in the previous quarter.

Hotel Capacity by Region

 

111 hotels operating in the West Bank responded to the Hotel Activities Survey for the first quarter of 2015.  These hotels had 6,813 rooms available with 15,184 beds. These were distributed by region as follows:

·         North of West Bank: 16 hotels comprising 340 rooms with 1,014 beds.

·         Middle of West Bank: 35 hotels comprising 1,572 rooms with 3,411 beds.

·         Jerusalem: 23 hotels comprising 1,477   rooms with 3,252 beds.

·         South of West Bank: 37 hotels comprising 3,424 rooms with 7,507 beds.
