Results on ICT Business Survey 2011
About Half of economic establishments Use Computers
In line with the policy of the PCBS with regard to publishing Palestinian statistics, the ICT Business survey was implemented in 2012 to providing statistical information for decision makers. The ICT indicators help to determining the extent of progress and economic growth of the Palestinian economy through the revolutionary impact of information and communication technologies that have become a main feature of this era. The survey aims mainly at providing comprehensive statistical data on the availability of the means, accesses and usages of ICT tools in the establishments by major economic activities, employment size, places and different goals as well as main features for the usage of ICT.
Usage of Computer
According to the results of the ICT Business Survey, 47.0% of the total number of the establishments used computers in the Palestinian Territory in 2011. The usage of computers by establishments in 2011 reached 49.6% in West Bank compared with 40.8% in Gaza Strip.
Usage of Internet
About 39.2% of the total number of establishments accessed internet services in 2011. The access to internet by establishments reached 41.3% in West Bank compared with 34.0% in Gaza Strip.
Electronic Commerce
The survey findings showed that the percentage of establishments which carried e-commerce transactions was 11.2% in 2011. The Percentage of establishments that had a website reached 4.8% of the total number of establishments in the Palestinian Territory in 2011.
Telecommunications
The findings of the survey revealed that the number of mobile phones was 40.2 mobiles per 100 employees in the Palestinian Territory in 2011 of which 37.3 in West Bank and 50.3 in Gaza Strip.
Research &Development (R&D)
Data showed that the percentage of establishments that performed R&D activities related to ICT reached 2.5% of the total establishments in the Palestinian Territory in 2011. Also, the percentage of establishments that performed R&D activities related to ICT reached 1.5% in West Bank and 5.0% in Gaza Strip in 2011.
