Preliminary Estimates of Quarterly National Accounts, Fourth Quarter 2019

Main Results  

Increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant prices by 2.6% in Palestine during the 4th quarter 2019 compared to the 3rd quarter 2019 maintained stability in growth rate in GDP during the year 2019 compared to 2018



Preliminary estimates indicated that during 2019, GDP increased by 0.9% compared to 2018 at constant prices. Thus, the Palestinian economy maintained stability growth rate in spite of the financial crisis that witnessed a withholding for clearance revenues for more than 6 consecutive months, (increase of 1.2% in the West Bank and stability in Gaza Strip in 2019 compared to 2018).
 Estimates at constant prices showed an increase of 2.6% in Palestine during the 4th quarter 2019 compared to the 3rd quarter 2019 at constant prices, (mainly in Agriculture and fishing by 12%, Mining, Manufacturing, Electricity and Water 2%, Wholesale and Retail Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles by 2%, Public Administration and Defense by 5%).  

 On the other hand, it showed a decrease of 1.8% in GDP in Palestine during the 4th quarter 2019 compared to the 4th quarter 2018 which excludes the seasonal effect, meanwhile the base year is 2015. GDP for the 4th quarter 2019 at constant prices was USD 3,302 million for the West Bank and USD 714 million for Gaza Strip.

 
 Increase in Gross Domestic Product Per Capita
GDP per Capita for Palestine at constant prices was  USD 849 during the 4th quarter 2019, it showed an increase of 2% compared to the 3rd quarter 2019. As for the West Bank it was USD 1,214 at constant prices during the 4th quarter 2019, it showed an increase by 2% during the 4th quarter 2019 compared to the 3rd quarter 2019, while for Gaza Strip it was USD 355 during the 4th quarter 2019, and it showed an increase by 2% during the 4th quarter 2019 compared to the 3rd quarter 2019.
