Source: Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, 2023. Green House Gas Emissions tables (2006-2022). Ramallah - Palestine,  The estimates of emissions to air for Palestine is based on the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (2006 Guidelines). For more details about the methodology, data quality and calculations https://www.pcbs.gov.ps/Downloads/book2205.pdf. Data was collected from various key institutions: the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) surveys as   National Accounts Statistics, the Ministry of Local Governments, the Ministry of Agriculture, and Energy balance tables.

Definition: Value added: Value added is a central concept of production and refers to the generated value of any unit that carries out any productive activity. Gross value added is defined as the value of gross output less the value of intermediate consumption. The net value added is defined as the gross value less the value of fixed capital consumption.

Carbon dioxide (CO2): A naturally occurring gas, and also a by-product of burning fossil fuels and biomass, as well as land-use changes and other industrial processes. It is the principal anthropogenic greenhouse gas that affects the Earth’s radiative balance. It is the reference gas against which other greenhouse gases are measured and therefore has a Global Warming Potential of 1.

Emission: Discharge of Emittants into the atmosphere from stationary sources such as smoke stacks, other vents surface areas of commercial or industrial facilities, and mobile sources, for example, motor vehicles, locomotives and aircraft.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total monetary value of all final goods and services produced within a country’s borders in a specific time period (usually a quarter or a year).
