Palestinians in the Diaspora
The estimated number of Palestinians in the world at the end of 2010 was 11 million:
4.1
million in the Palestinian Territory (37.5% of all Palestinians); 1.4 million
(12.4%)
in the Palestinian Territory Occupied in 1948; 4.9 million (44.4%) in Arab
countries. The number of Palestinians living in foreign countries was estimated to be

thousand (5.7%) of all Palestinians in the world.
There were 4.9 million registered Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon,
and the Palestinian Territory.
The average family size of registered refugees in Jordan was 4.8, Syria 4.1, and
Lebanon 3.9 in 2010.
The total fertility rate in Jordan was 3.5, Syria 2.5, and in Lebanon 3.2 in 2010.
The crude birth rate in Jordan was 29.2, Syria 19.6, and Lebanon 25.8 in 2010.
There were no hospitals belonging to UNRWA in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon in
2010.
The number of primary health care centers in Jordan was 24, Syria 23, and Lebanon

in 2010.
The total number of refugee students in UNRWA schools was 119,678 in Jordan,

in Lebanon, and 66,400 in Syria in 2010.
The total number of UNRWA schools was 172 schools in Jordan, 118 schools in
Syria, and 74 schools in Lebanon in 2010.
The total number of teaching staff in UNRWA schools was 4,764 in Jordan, 2,301
in Syria, and 1,516 in Lebanon in 2010.
