Press Release on Hotel Activities Survey in the West Bank - Second Quarter 2014

207 Thousand Guests Spent 493 Thousand Nights

 

During the second quarter of 2014, 207,083 guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank for 493,104 nights. Of these nights 36% were by guests from European Union countries, 8% by Palestinians, and 11% from the United States and Canada.

The percentage of hotel guests during the second quarter of 2014 increased by 39% compared with the first quarter of 2014 and increased by 35% compared with the second quarter of 2013.

 

Hotel Room Occupancy during Second Quarter 2014

The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 31% in the second quarter of 2014.

Room occupancy during the second quarter of 2014 was 33% higher than in the first quarter of 2014 and 17% higher than in the second quarter of 2013.

During the second quarter of 2014, there were 3,010 hotel workers: 2,274 males and 736 females.

 

   Hotel Capacity by Region

In June 2014, 113 hotels in the West Bank responded to the survey on the second quarter of 2014. There were 6,621 rooms available with a total of 14,675 beds. These were distributed by region as follows:

·         North of West Bank: 15 hotels comprising 289 rooms with 843 beds.

·         Middle of West Bank: 34 hotels comprising 1,542 rooms with 3,331 beds.

·         Jerusalem: 28 hotels comprising 1,572 rooms with 3,490 beds.

·         South of West Bank: 36 hotels comprising 3,218 rooms with 7,011 beds.
