Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS)
Launching of the first version of the Palestinian Administrative Business Register

On December 19th, 2018, PCBS launched the shared Palestinian Administrative Business Register (ABR) which was developed in cooperation with Palestinian partners. This achievement has been realized with a technical support implemented by French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) and financial support by Expertise France.
The Administrative Business Register which was developed through the last three years was presented to Palestinian and international partners. H.E Dr. Ola Awad, President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) , Mr. Fareed Ghannam, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning on behalf of Dr. Bishara, Minister of Finance and Planning,            Mr. Jean-Luc Tavernier, Director General of the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), Mr.Jan Robert Suesser, Director of Project for Expertise France adressed the audience on different aspect linked to the project. H.E Mr. Pierre Cochard, French General Consul and French colleagues who assisted PCBS over the past years participated in the event.

The goal of the shared Palestinian ABR is to assist all institutions by providing more accurate knowledge of the active enterprises in Palestine. This is particularly relevant as almost each institution is confronted with many difficulties in order to register its units.
This first version of the ABR relies on the information provided by the Ministry of Finance and Planning, the Ministry of National Economy, ten municipalities, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, as well as the PCBS' Establishments Census 2017 which was useful for checking the quality of the ABR content.

In its present version the ABR includes almost 40,000 economic active units in the West Bank. This version of the register will be shared with all relevant official institutions.
