PCBS Release A Statistical Report about Agriculture Statistics in the Palestinian Territory, 2005\2006
1,826 Thousand Dunum Cultivated in the Palestinian Territory
 US$ 557 Million the Value Added of the Agricultural Sector, 2005\2006
 
PCBS released a statistical data on agriculture statistics in the Palestinian Territory for the agricultural year 2005\2006, data reveal that the area cultivated with field crops, fruit trees, vegetables, and cut flowers in the Palestinian Territory amounted to 1,826 thousand dunum, compared with 1,833 thousand dunum in 2004/2005. 
 
Fruit trees constituted 62.2% from the total cultivated area of the Palestinian Territory. While field crops and vegetables comprised 27.2% and  10.6% of the cultivated Palestinian areas respectively; 69.1% of the cultivated area in Gaza Strip rely on irrigation compared with only 8.4% in the West Bank.
 
The livestock production was as follows:  cattle, 36,284 in 2005/2006 compared with 33,746 in 2004/2005, sheep 793,874 in 2005/2006 compared with 803,165 in 2004/2005, and 387,123 goats in 2005/2006 compared with 371,198  in 2004/2005.  The number of chickens reported in 2005/2006 were 31,533 thousand broiler chickens, and 3,372 thousand layer chickens.
 
The value added of agricultural production of the Palestinian Territory amounted to about US$ 557 million which shows increase compared with 2004/2005 which amounted to US$ 408 million.  Plant production constituted 84.0% of the value added of agricultural production (of which 69.5% in the West Bank and 30.5% in Gaza Strip), while animal production constituted 16.0% (of which 59.2% in West Bank and 40.8% in Gaza Strip).  The value of agricultural production of the Palestinian Territory amounted to about US$ 1,065 million, of which 56.4% for plant production and 43.6% for Livestock production.  The cost of intermediate consumption was about US$ 508 million, of which 26.2% of plant production and 73.8% of Livestock production .
